What is somnio?

somnio is the first approved "app on prescription" for patients with sleep disorders (insomnia). The app has been tested by the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices and approved as a Digital Health Application (DiGA).

How do I get access to somnio?

somnio can be prescribed by all physicians and psychotherapists with a health insurance prescription or, if insomnia has already been diagnosed, can be requested directly from the health insurance company. To activate the account, a license code is required, which you will receive from your health insurance company after submitting your health insurance prescription or if you have already been diagnosed. How does somnio work?

Effective treatment methods can help you regain good sleep. The German Sleep Society recommends the scientifically well-studied cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (KVT-I). The contents of somnio are based on these methods. You will encounter the following content, for example:

• Keeping an intelligent sleep diary
• Optimizing sleep times
• Dealing with circling thoughts and ruminations
• Using relaxation techniques in a targeted manner
• Tracking personal sleep goals

With somnio, you are supported by the digital sleep expert Albert - a smart companion, behind which stands an intelligent algorithm developed by sleep researchers. Together with him, you go through several modules in which Albert asks you questions, imparts important knowledge about sleep and optimizes your sleep behavior.

Clinical proof of effectiveness

The medical benefits of somnio have been proven in a randomized controlled trial. The study showed that users of the digital sleep training were able to reduce insomnia symptoms by 50%. In addition, in the group that used somnio, the time spent awake at night was significantly reduced. The effects were stable even after 12 months. The main results of the study briefly summarized:
